Severe Weather In Denver Causing Flight Delays For SFO, SJ Mineta Airports

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Both San Jose Mineta and San Francisco International airports were reporting significant delays on flights to and from Denver Wednesday afternoon because of stormy weather there.

The delays are the result of severe weather conditions in Denver, where the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch.

According to Mineta airport spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes, departing flights to Denver are delayed by as much as three-and-a-half hours, while some arrivals have been delayed by two hours.

SFO spokesman Doug Yakel reports flights from Denver are arriving in San Francisco between 30 and 90 minutes late and that departures are delayed by about half an hour.

However, both Yakel and Barnes noted that not every flight is experiencing delays, so they are advising travelers to check the status of their specific flight with their airline.
