Search Expands For Walnut Creek Woman Missing Since Friday

WALNUT CREEK (CBS SF) -- Search and rescue crews are in their second day of looking for an elderly woman after she walked away from her apartment in downtown Walnut Creek Friday afternoon, police said Sunday morning.

Valentina Matyushina went missing around 2:40 p.m. Friday, and is said to be at-risk due to dementia and other health problems. She does not speak English, according to police, and can only communicate in Russian.

Matyushina is described as a 74-year-old white woman with gray/brown hair and blue eyes. She is 4 feet 11 inches tall and roughly 180 pounds.

Valentina Matyushina, seen in an image from home surveillance video, went missing from her Walnut Creek apartment on Friday.

She was last seen wearing a gray-colored long sleeve shirt, brown slippers and a pair of Adidas-style pants which were darkly colored with white lines down the side of the leg. Police say she was also carrying a red fleece jacket and a floral print robe.

If Matyushina is located, call the Walnut Creek Police Department at (925) 943-5844.
