Relief! Lane Changes Coming To Golden Gate Bridge Commute

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- North Bay residents commuting home from San Francisco on the Golden Gate Bridge will be getting some relief from traffic congestion.

Starting on Tuesday, Bridge officials say there will be four lanes going northbound from 4 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.  Since January, there have been four northbound lanes from 4:30 to 5:30 in the afternoon on Thursdays and Fridays.

The Marin Independent Journal reports, the northbound "commuter surge" has been starting earlier in recent months, and traffic has been picking up on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well, with commuters looking to get back to Marin.

This is the latest change, as Bridge officials continue to tinker with the lane configurations, as they try to find the right combination to keep traffic flowing.
