Quick-Thinking Bank Employee Thwarts Rockridge Robbery Attempt

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Two masked men who tried to rob a bank in Oakland's Rockridge neighborhood Wednesday morning were foiled by a quick-thinking employee who locked them out, police said.

The robbery was reported at 10:13 a.m. in the 6000 block of College Avenue, police Officer J. Moore said.

Two masked men tried to enter the First Federal Savings bank at 6058 College Ave. but were spotted by a bank employee and locked out, police said in a statement this afternoon.

Bank employees did not see any weapons in the suspects' possession, according to Moore.

One suspect was described as a male in his late teens or early 20s, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build and wearing a white plastic mask on his face, a light blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, police said.

The other suspect was described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build and a charcoal or gray hooded sweatshirt pulled over his face.

Police said the two fled in a beige four-door Toyota Camry or Corolla that was last seen near Harwood Avenue off of College Avenue.
