Massive Quail Fire In Solano County Doubles In Size To 1,200 Acres; 2 Structures Destroyed

SOLANO COUNTY (CBS SF) -- Firefighters in Solano County are battling a quickly growing brush fire north of Vacaville that has grown to 1,200 acres Saturday evening and has destroyed two structures, according to fire officials.

The so-called Quail Fire burning in rural Solano County between Vacaville and Winters has forced mandatory evacuations on Pleasants Valley Road, Cal Fire said.

More than 80 other structures remain threatened late Saturday night, firefighters said. No injuries have been reported, but evacuations of
homes and other buildings in the area are mandatory.

Cal Fire first tweeted about the wildland fire on the 8000 block of Quail Canyon Road north of Vacaville in Solano County shortly before 5 p.m.

As of 9 p.m., the fire had grown to 1,200 acres and was only 5 percent contained.

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for Pleasants Valley Road north and east of Quail Canyon Road, south of Highway 128, north of Olive School and west of Highway 505.

Pleasants Valley Road and Cantelow Road are closed.

An evacuation center has been set up at Three Oaks Community Center at 1100 Alamo Drive in Vacaville.

With the continuing concerns over possible exposure to the coronavirus, Solano County Public Health will be providing screening at the evacuation center.
