Police Seek Petaluma Man Who Went Missing Thursday Morning Under Suspicious Circumstances

PETALUMA (CBS SF) -- A Petaluma man is missing under suspicious circumstances and police are asking the public for help in locating him.

J. Roy Martinez as reported missing on Thursday from his home in Petaluma.

His wife reported that he had left for work on Tuesday morning and seemed fine, but learned that evening that he had never arrived at work, police said.

Investigators launched a missing persons search and learned that Martinez had disappeared in 2012 when he felt stressed, but had returned after several days.

Friday, police located Martinez's car at the fairgrounds in Petaluma. It did not appear to have been moved recently and contained his car keys, glasses, wallet and the clothing he wore to work, police said.

There were no signs of foul play and a search of the area by police dogs found no signs of Martinez.

The search is ongoing, and anyone with information on Martinez's whereabouts is asked to contact Petaluma police.
