Palo Alto Man Suspected Of Battering, Sexually Assaulting His Girlfriend Arrested

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- A man suspected of battering and sexually assaulting his live-in girlfriend early Sunday morning in Palo Alto and fled the scene was arrested, police said.

Tyler Wallace, 28, was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and sexual assault at a residence in the 2800 block of Alma Street that was reported around 3:20 a.m., according to police.

Wallace's girlfriend, a woman in her 20s, alerted police of the incident soon after it happened, police said.

Arriving officers were unable to find Wallace, who fled on foot through a back door of the home.

Officers set up a perimeter and conducted a search with the assistance of police K-9 until 6 a.m. when they were unable to find the suspect, police said.

Investigators learned Wallace allegedly brandished a knife in the incident and located one during their search, but have yet to determine if it was the same blade Wallace had when he left the home, according to police.

The woman did not need medical treatment, police said.

Wallace was taken into custody without incident as of 7 p.m. and police are expected to release additional information on the case on Monday morning.
