Man Arrested For Setting His Former Boss's Home On Fire

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- A disgruntled former employee was arrested after allegedly setting his former boss's house on fire, according to Palo Alto police.

Muhammad Hassan Khan was arrested at his Palo Alto home on charges of attempted murder and felony arson with an enhancement for using an accelerant. The 26-year-old was booked at the Santa Clara County Main jail.

Firefighters responded to a 911 call Saturday from a resident in the 3400 block of Kenneth Drive.

According to investigators three residents were were awakened by a smoke detector and discovered the exterior of their garage and the driveway on fire. One of the residents used a garden hose to extinguish the fire.

One resident suffered a burn injury when she opened the garage door and was treated at the scene.

No one else was injured. Authorities said the garage sustained moderate to major damage.
