Magnitude 6.3 Earthquake Hits Chile

OVALLE, Chile (CBS/AP) -- A powerful earthquake has hit Chile Tuesday evening, but no injuries or damage was immediately reported.

The magnitude 6.3 quake struck 24 miles west of Ovalle, and 202 miles north northwest of Santiago, the USGS reported.

Other details were not immediately known.

There was no tsunami threat from the earthquake.
