Major Yosemite Highway Reopens Following Heavy Storms, Mudslide

YOSEMITE (CBS/AP) -- The El Portal Road route into Yosemite National Park has reopened after clean-up of storm damage.

A park press release says the popular route reopened Thursday evening but that intermittent traffic delays are possible.

El Portal Road, or Highway 140, had been closed since Tuesday after heavy rains in the Sierra Nevada caused mud and debris flows.

The park service posted a picture showing a pile of rocks and mud covering the roadway near the park's entrance.
