Raley's Supermarkets CFO among 2 killed in Galt plane crash

Galt plane crash victims identified

GALT -- The two people killed in a plane crash near Galt on Sunday have now been identified by authorities. 

Crews responded to the scene just after 9:15 a.m. near Christensen and Twin Cities road and found a small plane had crashed into an orchard. 

Two people were on board the plane, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. 

Both Cosumnes Fire units and Sacramento County sheriff's deputies responded. FAA and National Transportation Safety Board investigators also later responded. 

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has since released the identity of the two men killed: 68-year-old Orangevale resident Richard Conte and 56-year-old El Dorado Hills resident Kenneth Mueller. 

Raley's Supermarkets says Mueller and Conte were a longtime team members, with Mueller being the company's Chief Financial Officer and Conte being Chief Pilot. 

Exactly what caused the plane to crash is under investigation.
