Facebook COO Sandberg Slams Military For Bias Against Women

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (CBS/AP) -- Facebook's chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg, told cadets at the Air Force Academy that bias is prevalent in the military.

Sandberg visited the school Friday and spoke as part of her campaign to promote women in leadership.

She told cadets that women and minorities face barriers white men don't face. She also described the military as one of "the worst" organizations for bias.

Sandberg launched a conversation about the lack of women in positions of power with her 2011 book "Lean In" and founded a nonprofit group to foster small support groups -- "lean in circles" -- to help women achieve their goals.

The Department of Defense is partnering with the group to launch circles throughout the military.
