Child Hurt In Delta Boating Accident

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- A child was injured during a boating accident in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, near Antioch Sunday evening.

Around 6:48 p.m. police received a call regarding a vessel that was in distress in an area of the river between Pittsburg and Antioch, according to police.

As officers were responding, another boat came by and towed the distressed boat to a nearby marina, police Lt. John VanderKlugt said.

The distressed boat had hit an unknown object in the river, which disabled it and injured the child, according to Lt. VanderKlugt.

The child was taken a hospital for their injuries, Lt. VanderKlugt said.
