CA Skateboarders Doing Dangerous Daredevil Stunts On Freeways

LOS ANGELES (CBS SF) -- California skateboarders are using a special hashtag #freewaychallenge to turn rush hour into an adrenaline rush.

Cell phone video captured the bizarre and extremely dangerous stunt. A guy jumps out of a car and skateboards through traffic on the freeway.

Then, it's almost too surreal to believe. The boarder hitches a ride on the back rail of a Von's delivery truck.

As his buddies keep recording, the skateboarder makes his way back to the car.

Several such clips have been posted online. Professional skateboarder Nigel Smith started what could be a trend with a video featuring himself on the 110 freeway in downtown L.A. As Smith skateboards, drivers trudge along through the usual bumper-to-bumper traffic.

As dangerous is it looks some drivers say they get it. Traffic is so miserable they think it is a legitimate diversion. But not everyone is amused.

The California Highway Patrol is using those very same Instagram videos to try to track down the daredevils. If caught they could face a pricey traffic ticket. Even jail time.
