Shots Fired Into North Highlands Apartment, Narrowly Miss Infant

NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) - A woman has decided not to return to her North Highlands apartment after gunshots were fired into a room where her two children were sleeping.

The shooting happened at 4:30 a.m. In total, eight bullets were fired into the apartment at the Mesa Verde Apartment complex at 3800 Madison Avenue.

"Just heard some loud noise and I thought it was the bathroom. I get up and it's the window; I got scared and I started crawling on the ground. Then a few minutes later, it was like four more," said Stephanie Robertson, who lives in the apartment.

Deputies do not have a suspect description, although Robertson says she recently broke up with her boyfriend. Deputies have not named him as a suspect.
