Sacramento Kings PG Darren Collison Pleads Guilty To Domestic Battery

PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) — Sacramento Kings point guard Darren Collison entered a guilty plea on domestic battery charges, just before the holiday weekend.

Under the plea deal, Collison was sentenced to 20 days in jail, but that sentence could be served otherwise if the probation department allows it. He was also sentenced to three years of informal probation and must complete a battery program and perform 20 hours of community service.

Collison also was served with a protective order that allows "only peaceful contact with the Victim."

Collison was arrested in the early morning of May 30 after deputies responded to a report from a woman who said she was being assaulted inside a Granite Bay home.

Collison played 74 games for the Kings in the 2015-16 season and averaged 14 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Collison recently finished his second season with the Kings. He's played 7 seasons in the NBA.

Collison signed a three-year, $16 million deal with the Kings in the 2014 offseason. That contract runs through the end of next season and would pay him more than $5 million this season.

The Sacramento Kings recently signed guard Ty Lawson to a one-year deal.
