SACRAMENTO – A woman who was being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail has died after an apparent medical emergency, officials say.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says the 32-year-old woman was found unresponsive in her 7-East building jail cell Wednesday night.

Deputies immediately got her out of the cell and started first aid with the help of jail nursing staff, the sheriff's office says. The woman was then taken to the hospital.

The sheriff's office says the woman was pronounced dead later in the night.

Authorities have not yet released the woman's name, nor any other details about her incarceration.
