Public Bus Route From Carson City To Lake Tahoe In Jeopardy

STATELINE, Nev. (AP) — A transit official says a mistake in an application for federal funds may mean the elimination of an express bus route that carries 25,000 passengers a year between Lake Tahoe's south shore and downtown Carson City.

The Valley and Lake Express route "21x" is at risk of ending due to what Tahoe Transportation District manager Carl Hasty told the Tahoe Daily Tribune (http://bit.ly/2bCgI7N ) was a beneficial funding change with unintended consequences.

According to Hasty, information about the district's density was omitted by mistake.

The result has cost a significant loss of funding.

Hasty says the district is asking the state transportation department to step in and fund the route.

If the Nevada Department of Transportation rejects the request, Route 21x would end Oct. 1.
