Stockton Denny's Waiter Stabbed Rowdy Patron In Self-Defense, Witnesses Say

STOCKTON (CBS13) - Witnesses are telling police that a waiter at a Stockton Denny's restaurant stabbed a patron in self-defense early Thursday morning.

The incident happened at the Denny's location along the 4700 block of Pacific Avenue. Officers say that a little after 1:42 a.m., a group of patrons inside the restaurant were drunk and being rowdy.

A waiter asked the people to leave, but this allegedly started a fight that ended with the waiter pulling out a pocket knife and stabbing a man.

The rowdy patrons took off before officers got to the scene. Several witnesses told police that the employee was acting in self-defense, saying that the patrons jumped him.

Officers later located the patron who was stabbed at a local hospital. He is reportedly in stable condition.

The case has been turned over to the district attorney's office, who will decide if any charges will be filed.
