Boyfriend Of Former Playboy Model Arrested In Connection To Doctor's Killing Flashes Note In Court

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Court officers admonished a 27-year-old Las Vegas man for flashing a note while standing before a judge on murder and conspiracy charges in the killing of a California doctor.

Jon Logan Kennison acknowledged the charges against him Friday while the judge scheduled him to appear with two other defendants June 3 for a preliminary hearing of evidence in the slaying of 71-year-old psychiatrist Thomas Burchard.

Kennison's public defender, Ryan Bashor, didn't immediately respond to messages about the note in Kennison's hand. It read "Love U Lil Mama."

Communication is prohibited between detainees and spectators in the courtroom.

Kennison is accused with girlfriend Kelsey Turner and their roommate, Diana Pena, of killing Burchard and leaving Burchard's body in Turner's car in the desert outside Las Vegas. Burchard was from Salinas, California.
