MODESTO – A 27-year-old man has been arrested for attempted homicide in connection with a shooting following a chase in Modesto earlier this month, police said on Friday.

The Modesto Police Department responded to The Gospel Mission's parking lot on Yosemite Avenue around 8 a.m. on April 14 for a report of a shooting.

At the scene, a witness reported that a man driving a sedan was chasing a victim who was driving a separate car, police said.

Officers said both were driving recklessly in the parking lot and were chasing each other.

It was during the chase that police said the driver of the sedan shot at the victim before both vehicles took off from the scene.

Investigators located evidence of the shooting and were able to identify 27-year-old Jason Nolan Jr. as a suspect in the shooting.

Then, on Thursday, Nolan Jr. was arrested and booked into jail for attempted homicide, police said.

The case remains under investigation.
