Head-on crash on Highway 70 in Yuba County leaves 2 dead, 4 injured

2 killed, 4 others injured in Highway 70 crash in Yuba County

Two people are dead and four others are injured, including two children, after a head-on crash closed parts of Highway 70 north of Marysville Friday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said. 

CHP officers responded to Highway 70 near Boyer Road around 3:15 p.m., saying two vehicles were involved in the crash.

An investigation determined that an 18-year-old man from Brentwood was driving a Toyota Camry south on Highway 70 when he lost control, the CHP said. The Camry traveled into the northbound lanes where it crashed into a Honda CR-V. 

The CHP said a 41-year-old man from Roseville who was driving the CR-V died. Officers said a 41-year-old woman in the CR-V died at the hospital. Officials have since identified the man as Puneet Singh Sohi and the woman as Premjeet Brar.

Two children in the CR-V, ages 4 and 8, were taken to a hospital with what officials said were major injuries. 

The driver of the Camry and his passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Brentwood, were taken to the hospital with major injuries, the CHP said. 

Officers said it's unknown if impairment played a role in the crash. 

Highway 70 was closed for more than two hours.
