Family Gets Out Safely After Fire At South Sacramento Home

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Firefighters credit a young man's quick action and smoke detectors with helping get his family out of danger in a fire at a south Sacramento home.

The scene is along Maralee Way. According to the Sacramento Fire Department, crews were called to the scene just after 7 a.m. Wednesday and found heavy smoke coming from the front and sides of the house.

Crews made quick work of the flames and soon had the fire under control.

No one was hurt in the fire, officials say. A 22-year-old man in the home woke up his family and got them out safely after he heard smoke detectors going off.

Firefighters will be out at the scene for the next several hours making sure the fire is out and investigating the cause.
