Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders Will Top California Primary Ballots
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Donald Trump will be on top in California, at least when it comes to his place on the primary ballot.
The California Secretary of State's office held its randomized drawing to determine the order candidates' names will appear on the ballot.
The full results of the drawing will be at the end of this story.
For the Republican primary ballots, the order will be:
- Donald Trump
- Ted Cruz
- John Kasich
California's June primary is normally too late in the year to be a factor in nominating a presidential candidate, but with the likelihood of a contested primary for Republicans, the state will likely have an impact.
Republicans make up 27 percent of California's registered voters.
For Democratic voters and no party preference voters who have chosen to vote in the Democratic primary, the order will be:
- Bernie Sanders
- Hillary Clinton
In California, voters who choose "no party preference" are allowed to vote in the Democratic, Libertarian and American Independent primaries.
No party preference voters make up 24 percent of registered California voters.
