Shooting at Carmichael apartment leaves 3 dead, sheriff's office says

What we know about shooting at Carmichael apartment that left 3 dead

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said three people were found dead inside a Carmichael apartment on Sunday morning.

Deputies found the three victims at the Lance Apartments on El Camino Avenue after a family member called 911 around 7 a.m. and reported a shooting at the home, the sheriff's office said.

"We received a call from a loved one who believed that their family member was inside the residence, potentially who they hadn't heard from," Sgt. Alex Zakrzewski said.

When deputies arrived, they found three people who had been shot.

"We don't know what time this happened, because we didn't receive other calls for service in the complex, so we don't have a time frame," Zakrzewski said.

Homicide detectives are investigating, and the sheriff's office said they were working to obtain security footage from the complex.

Investigators are working to get more information about a suspect.

The sheriff's office has not yet identified the victims.
