Firefighters Save 3 From Apartment Fire In Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Rescues were underway at an apartment fire on 10th Street in downtown Sacramento on Sunday evening and at least three people were rescued, says Sacramento Fire.

Sacramento Fire says the blaze started on the first floor and quickly raced upwards moving so fast resident Kevin Johnson had to jump from a window.

"I smelled smoke and went to the door," said Johnson. "It was hot so, I backed up and went to the window and I had to jump."

Johnson says he suspected he broke his foot during the escape.

Three individuals in total were trapped. One got out on their own after firefighters knocked down some flames and two were rescued.

One victim was transported to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries. The other two were treated on the scene and released.
