Westmoreland Co. Airshow Comes Back
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – They've been having airshows at the Westmoreland County Airport for nearly half a century.
This year it's all back again with the headliners, the Blue Angels, and a host of others who take to the sky to entertain.
If it's got a prop, it's turning; if it's got a jet, it's burning. Planes of every shape and size sort all on the tarmac for the 2015 Westmoreland County Air Show.
"We love to do this air show, they treat us really well here," said skytyper pilot James Record.
Record flies with the world renowned Geico Skytypers. A cadre of pilots putting these 1940 SNJ-2 advanced trainers through their paces.
"Our airshow routine is an 18-minute formation flying, very similar to what the jet teams do," said Record. "We do the same type of maneuvers."
The fastest planes on the tarmac are the Blue Angels' FA 18s. They'll close out both weekend shows. Now parking is more than available. The green section on the map shows where. Also, the plan is to fly rain or shine, severe weather being an exception.
