WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) -- A small car slammed into the Arby's Restaurant on busy Lebanon Church Road on Friday afternoon.

It happened at 5:30 p.m. in West Mifflin.

The only occupant of the Chevy Sonic was an unidentified woman driver. The car crashed through a large window near the drive-thru menu sign.

"I guess the female, I don't know, maybe [had] a medical episode or maybe something else... She drove down through the lot into the front of the building here. There were some people in there eating. Luckily nobody was hit, nobody was severely hurt," West Mifflin Police Sgt. Thomas Kahler said.

The car shattered a large front glass window, then knocked over several tables, striking a pillar, which caused some of the ceiling tile to fall to the floor.

At first, the driver of the car, who police said was conscious immediately after the crash, didn't want to go to the hospital, but then, she relented.

Bill Eibeck, of Brentwood, and his wife were in the restaurant when the car plowed through the window. They narrowly avoided being hit.

"The car [came] crashing through the side of the building here and actually pushed my wife's chair against the table and missed her by inches," Eibeck said.

According to police, the car left the road, which was on an incline, it went over grass, then jumped a curb and went into the restaurant.
