Police Investigating Deadly Stabbing In Beechview

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- Homicide detectives are looking into a deadly stabbing in Beechview.

The stabbing happened around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday in the 1500-block of Rockland Avenue.

Jamar Nelson, 30, of McKees Rocks, was found on a sidewalk in front of a home, unconscious, with a stab wound to the back. He was rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 10:15 p.m.

"Upon arrival, officers discovered the 30-year-old male from McKees Rocks on the sidewalk," said Emily Schaffer, of the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department. "He was unconscious. Paramedics transported him to Mercy Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased."

An autopsy will be performed later today.

According to the investigation, an argument between Nelson and 29-year-old Ashanna Green led to the stabbing. Green was arrested and charged with criminal homicide.

"At this point in the investigation, what we believed happened was there was some type of argument inside the residence and a scuffle ensued and the actor stabbed the victim in the back," said Schaffer.

Police have not released information on the relationship between the victim and suspect. Their investigation continues.
