GREENSBURG (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a pickup truck crashed into a dealership showroom in Westmoreland County.

According to police, the incident happened at Sendell Motors along Route 30 in Greensburg around 3 a.m.

"It's remarkable he did an 'S' while asleep," said Bill Scattaregia.

Scattaregia was in the area for car work when he spotted the damage.

"Pretty high-speed collision. I mean you wonder how somebody got in here," said Scattaregia.

State police are handling this investigation

"He clipped one of the traffic control devices, where the road funnels down into one lane because of construction we have here on Route 30. That sign flew into the eastbound lanes where workers were," said State Police Trooper Stephen Limani.

KDKA's Amy Wadas Reports:

The truck narrowly missed the construction workers.

"Luckily for us, these workers were actually bending down and working below the concrete barrier and the projectile that flew - it flew across the barrier and fortunately did not strike them," said Limani.

Police said the truck was driven by Daniel Rhoades, 32, of Johnstown. It went airborne, causing damage along the way before resting right in front of the showroom.

Police said Rhoades was driving to work in Mt. Pleasant when the crash happened.

Rhoades was taken to the hospital to get checked out, but wasn't hurt. Police say he was wearing his seat belt. He could end up getting cited.
