Officials Investigating Monroeville Apartment Building Fire

MONROEVILLE (KDKA) - Officials are looking into the cause of an overnight fire at an apartment building in Monroeville.

When crews got to the scene of the fire on Eagle Ridge Drive, flames were coming from the roof of one of the units.

Police officers arrived on scene just after 11 p.m. and helped residents get out.

When firefighters got on scene, they were able to knock down the flames fairly quickly. However, it did take them a while to search the apartment building to make sure everyone was okay.

The fire was contained to the attic area of one of the apartment complex's buildings.

A fire hydrant at the scene malfunctioned, and shot water up into the trees, which turned the parking lot into a lake. That water froze with the cold temperatures. Crews salted the area before clearing the scene.

There are no reported injuries.
