McCutchen To Return To The Field Tuesday
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Pirates star Andrew McCutchen will be back on the field Tuesday night.
The Pirates announced that the outfield has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list.
he will be batting third, for the first time since Aug. 3.
Michael Martinez will go to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room for McCutchen.
McCutchen reportedly said he feels 100 percent ready and will wear a special padded compression shirt. He sat out 14 games.
"Yeah, I'm ready. Ready to go, ready to go, can't wait," he said. "It's pretty frustrating. It's kind of like watching, you know, your best friend out there. Like you're watching a race or something and they -- something happens and you want to go out there and help them, you can't."
Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle says he is glad to have the Cutch back.
McCutchen was placed on the 15-day DL with an avulsion fracture involving the costochondral cartilage of the left 11th rib.
KDKA-TV Sports' Rich Walsh also reports that Jordy Mercer will also be included in Tuesday's lineup.
