Man Charged For Scott Township Fire That Destroyed Multiple Homes

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man has been charged with arson for a fire that destroyed multiple homes in Scott Township on December 12th.

Police say surveillance video links Stanley Patterson to the fire that left seven families homeless.

The four-alarm fire broke out in the early morning last Saturday, burning one triplex unit to the ground.

"Two out of three are pretty destroyed in this particular triplex behind us, and then the house on the other side has extensive fire damage as well," Scott Township VFD Chief Adam Kauer said at the scene last Saturday.

The seven families escaped the homes safely, with one 96-year-old woman taken to the hospital for evaluation. Up to 20 people were receiving food, clothing and shelter from the American Red Cross.

Patterson is also charged with trying to set fire to a business on West Main Street in Carnegie early Thursday.
