Hockey Night Punjabi Team Pens Heartfelt Letter To Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- For Pittsburgh Penguins fans, the glow of the Stanley Cup championship has just begun to dim.

However, for the Hockey Night Punjabi team, the group behind the now famous "Bonino" call, warm memories are still very present.

On Thursday, the team wrote a heartfelt letter to the City of Pittsburgh, thanking fans for the "warmth and hospitality" they received.

The group wrote that beyond the viral goal calls that spread like wildfire on social media, "something incredible was happening:"

"This was an example of a shared experience that brought everyone together, regardless of race, religion, language, or background," the letter reads.

The group goes on to say that this is why the visit to Pittsburgh is so emotional for them, and that their experience has filled much of their community "with hope and optimism."

The Hockey Night Punjabi team finishes the letter with a promise: "We may live in Canada, but we are now Pittsburghers!"
