Heavy Rains Prompt Flood Warning For Parts Of Area
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Days of heavy rain continued to cause flash flooding problems across the area on Friday.
A viewer sent us video taken on her cell phone camera of water quickly rising over Rodi Road in Penn Hills around 5:30 p.m.
One witness says a man got out of his car, which was surrounded with water, and was sitting on the car's roof.
In McKeesport, West Fifth Avenue had been cleaned up after water left a muddy mess.
The off-ramp to the Duquesne-McKeesport Bridge was closed on the Duquesne side for a time because of high water.
In Monroeville, crews worked to clear debris from a stream near Old Frankstown Road. The debris had clogged up the stream and caused it to flood a parking area.
The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning Friday evening for Allegheny, Washington and Westmoreland Counties, but it has since expired.
According to the warning details, runoff from the line of thunderstorms that passed through the area in the afternoon caused flooding in poor drainage areas and low spots.
The areas of Penn Hills, Dravosburg, Versailles, McKeesport and Churchill were most at risk.
