PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- With a wintry mix in the forecast, the National Weather Service issued an advisory for much of the area Thursday night.

A Winter Weather Advisory has expired for much of the area, but remains in effect until 1 p.m. Friday for elevated areas.

According to the National Weather Service, some areas were seeing freezing rain, causing slick spots on the roadways. Also, some snow was mixing in with the freezing rain.

The good news is, as the wintry mix wraps up, temperatures will be rising.

"Temperatures right now, running near the freezing mark, will be rising overnight tonight, probably into the mid-30s by first thing [Friday] morning," said KDKA Chief Meteorologist Jeff Verszyla. "Could be a couple of showers around in the morning. I don't think it will be a whole lot based on the latest information and then a cloudy afternoon in the mid-40s."
