Fayette Co. House Fire Leaves 1 Dead

UNIONTOWN (AP) - A 60-year-old man has died in a Fayette County house fire.

State police were still trying to determine the cause of the fire that killed Randy Shipley Sr. He is the brother of the woman who rented the home in North Union Township.

Police did not immediately release the tenant's name, but said she was taken to Uniontown Hospital after she was able to escape.

Shipley's body was found in a hallway, next to his walking cane.

The fire was reported in the single-family home about 9:50 a.m.

The landlord told reporters that the dead man had been staying with his sister in recent days. She had lived in the home about 10 years.

The cause of the fire was being investigated.
