Escaped Vulture Returns To National Aviary

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The hooded vulture that flew away from the National Aviary this week returned to its home Saturday afternoon.

Officials with the National Aviary say the hooded vulture voluntarily flew to his trainers around 12:30 p.m. Saturday and is secure back at the Aviary.

The vulture, named Kiume, flew away during an open-air show on Thursday afternoon. He had a tracking device, and officials tried to recapture him on Thursday and Friday, but were unsuccessful.

Kiume has been at the National Aviary for seven years.
