Unlicensed Driver Who Allegedly Struck, Killed Cyclist In Brookline Out On Non-Monetary Bail
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A man who allegedly killed a cyclist after he struck him with his car on Brookline Boulevard is out on bail after turning himself into police.
Pittsburgh Police say 23-year-old Thomas Morton was driving unlicensed and under the influence when he hit a bicyclist along Brookline Boulevard at Pioneer Avenue the night of Oct. 20.
KDKA's Lindsay Ward Reports:
That cyclist, identified as 22-year-old Austin Fike, was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Fike left behind his 2-year-old son and fiancé.
"He was actually going down to McDonald's to get his son some food," Haley Fike said about her brother, Austin.

Morton is facing multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle, DUI and several traffic infractions.
Police say Morton has turned himself in.
Overnight, he was released from custody on non-monetary bail.
Fike said she was frustrated with how long the investigation took but is happy to finally see some justice for her family.
"You'd hope he's sorry for what he did. And as much as it hurts, maybe he'll take a life lesson and try to help other people so this doesn't happen again," Haley Fike said.

Morton is expected back in court on Jan. 17 for a preliminary hearing.
