Officers Jump Into Action After Woman Is Struck By Police Car

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—A woman was injured after she was struck by a police cruiser on Tuesday afternoon.

On a paved walking trail on the 3000 block of F Street a police cruiser was parked while officers conducted an investigation.

That investigation soon became secondary when around 4:30 p.m. an officer attempted to move his vehicle.

"They went here and then they backed up and hit her," said one witness.

Police tell CBS3's Alexandria Hoff that a woman in her 30's was struck when the vehicle was put in reverse during an investigation in the park.

An eyewitness caught two officers jump into action, moving the seemingly unconscious woman to the back of their cruiser in order to get her quick medical attention.

She was transported to an area hospital where she's listed in critical condition.

According to police it is unclear if the victim had been standing or possibly sitting at the time she was hit.

Authorities could not disclose details about the investigation that brought officers to the park in the first place.
