Wolf Creates Office Of Government 'Transformation'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - In one of his first acts since taking office, Governor Tom Wolf has signed an executive order creating an office of "transformation" in his administration.

The goal of the new office is find $150-million in savings for the coming fiscal year.

Governor Wolf says there may be lots of ways to do that, but one way not to do it is by cutting. He was short on examples of what efficiencies he may find in state government, instead pointing to his experience doing that with his business:

"One of the things that I did in the company to make it more efficient was actually make it more customer-friendly. And I think one of the things we've got to recognize is our citizens are our customers, and that we can actually look at what we do in terms of, in relation to what the customers are actually asking for and do things… just by doing them in a more friendly way, do [them] more efficiently."

And just as he did with his business, Governor Wolf says he'll start by seeking input from his employees.
