2 teenagers charged with murder after man killed during possible attempted carjacking in West Philadelphia
Two teenagers are being charged with murder after a 70-year-old man was shot in the back in West Philadelphia Sunday evening and later died at the hospital, according to police.
On Monday, Philadelphia police said Nasir Brogdon, 19, and Nysiir Peoples, 19, were arrested and charged with murder, conspiracy, robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle, theft, receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence.
Brogdon is also charged with violation of the Uniform Firearms Act and possessing an instrument of crime, investigators said.
Police received a call a few minutes after 5 p.m. on Sunday about a 70-year-old man with a gunshot wound during a possible attempted carjacking near 63rd and Vine streets.
Police responded and took the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 5:30 p.m., Philadelphia Police Captain Shawn Butts said. On Monday, police identified the victim as Carmen Suero Jr. of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.
