Strong spring storm marks rainy end to weather week in Philadelphia region. Here's the forecast.
At least the weather is sunny in the Philadelphia region, but temperatures are only topping out in the 50s on Wednesday. Brr!
Wednesday afternoon, clouds will increase ahead of a strong spring storm that is delivering a high risk of severe weather (level 5 of 5) to our west, including strong tornadoes and large hail.
The warm front from that system lifts north of our area tomorrow and temperatures will soar to the upper 70s. There is a chance of scattered showers through the day but the severe threat for us arrives later in the evening through the overnight.
A NEXT Weather Alert has been issued for Thursday night. The timing of the storms will be from 6 p.m. to midnight.
This storm will bring the chance of isolated strong to severe storms with damaging wind gusts and heavy rain. The atmospheric conditions could even produce a brief, weak tornado.
Possible impacts include travel delays, localized flooding, power outages and knocked down trees and branches.
Behind the storm, a wet pattern will settle in with a chance of rain through the weekend. Temperatures will also see-saw up and down from the 50s to the 70s.
By early next week, a push of much colder air arrives, and on Tuesday, we will struggle to reach 50 for a high.
