Water Main Break In Fishtown Closes Roads

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A water main break has shut down a couple of streets and left a few homes without water in Fishtown, Tuesday morning.

The Philadelphia Water Department responded to an eight-inch water main break at Frankford and Thompson Streets, which has closed Frankford Avenue from Girard to Thompson, Shackamaxon Street to Girard to Thompson, and Thompson Street from Leopard to Frankford.

There are at least 12 homes without water service, and at least two had flooding in their basements.

The roads in that area will likely remain closed throughout most of the day as crews begin repair work.

In addition, the route five bus will be detoured in this location.
