Voters Head To Polls As Primary Day Arrives In Pennsylvania

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- Polls are open until eight o'clock tonight in Pennsylvania and Delaware on Primary Day 2016, but people started lining up early in the morning, waiting and wanting to exercise their right to vote.

About 15 minutes before the polls even opened here at Springfield Township High School, voters started to lineup, ready to make their statement in this democracy, many before heading out to work.

So, who were they voting for and why?

"Hilary Clinton for President," said Jim from Wyndmoor. "I believe experience matters. There's a lot going on in the world. I think she's the one with the tools to get the work done."

Changing the status quo is what motivated Diane from Erdenheim as she went behind the curtain to cast her ballot.

"Believe it or not, I'm surprised at myself, but I voted for Donald Trump, because I'm sick and tired of the politicians and what they get away with," she said. "I think that Donald Trump, although he's obnoxious, he's very entertaining, I think obviously he's a smart man. He knows how to make money and he knows how to manage and lead."

William from Lafayette Hill says it's the year of the angry voter and that's not a bad thing.

"Politicians actually starting to be really nervous," he said. "I hope that it continues because they actually have to start doing something."

And for those who say their vote doesn't count anyway, he says thinks otherwise.

"If you have such a strong opinion and then you don't vote, you're basically just blowing air," he said.

And after casting their votes, for most, the rest of the day is just listening, watching and waiting for the results.
