VIDEO: Suspect Hits Store Employee Over The Head With Gun In West Kensington Robbery

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police are on the hunt for a suspect who robbed Golden Block Dollar Plus in the West Kensington section of the city Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred around 6:46 p.m. on 2457 N. 5th Street.

A 32-year-old woman was working when an unknown male entered the store, took several items and placed them on the counter.

The suspect then walked to the refrigerator and when the female employee walked by, the suspect grabbed her around her neck and placed a handgun to her head.

The man then pushed her towards the counter and demanded money in Spanish to a witness standing nearby. When the witness stepped away from the counter in fear, the suspect began hitting the female on the head repeatedly with the gun.

The witness then grabbed a baseball bat and began hitting the suspect, forcing him out of the store. The suspect fled, with no money, and was last seen going east on Cumberland Street.

The female suffered minor injuries and was taken to Episcopal Hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 26-28-years-old, with a mustache. He is about 5'5" tall and was wearing black jacket, blue pants and a black, yellow and white Pittsburgh Steelers cap. He was also armed with a handgun.

Police ask anyone with information to call 911.
