Vehicle Slams Into Utility Pole In Northeast Philadelphia; Driver Injured

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A woman was injured after an overnight accident in Northeast Philadelphia.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Red Lion Road and Sandmeyer Lane.

Police say a woman's vehicle struck a utility pole and split it in half. The vehicle then flipped over and came to rest on its roof.

Eyewitnesses say the crash caused an explosion and there were power outages in the area as a result.

The driver had to be cut from her vehicle. She was rushed to Aria-Torresdale Hospital in stable condition.

There were no reports of any other injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
