Titans Fire Ken Whisenhunt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Tennessee Titans fired head coach Ken Whisenhunt on Tuesday morning.

Whisenhunt was 3-20 as the Titans head coach since taking over before the 2014 season. The 1-6 Titans have lost six in a row.

"After thoughtful consideration, the decision has been made to relieve Ken Whisenhunt of his head coaching duties," said Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk via titansonline.com. "We have expected more progress on the field, and I felt it was time to move in a different direction. I would like to thank Ken for his efforts with our team, as he worked very hard to try to move us forward."

Mike Mularkey, an assistant head coach and tight ends coach under Whisenhunt, will take over as the interim head coach. A press conference in scheduled for Tuesday to announce the decision.
