Temple Student Struck By Stray Bullet In Nightclub Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — Authorities say a Temple University student on the main campus in North Philadelphia was grazed by a bullet apparently fired in a shootout at a nearby nightclub.

The shooting happened at about 2 a.m. Sunday outside of the Let Out at 16th Street and Cecil B Moore Avenue.

Police say the incident began as an argument between two men inside the club and then continued outside where at least two men began firing shots.

An unidentified 21-year-old Temple student who was about a block away was struck in the stomach by a stray bullet. He was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where he was treated and released.

Police say one of the gunmen, a 25-year-old man, was struck in the knee. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition. There was no word on the second suspect involved.

Investigators say they recovered 29 shell casings from the scene.

No initial arrests were made, but police were questioning a number of witnesses.
