Suspect Arraigned In Murder Of 8-Year-Old Camden Girl

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- A man wanted for murder in South Jersey, and arrested in Tennessee last week, appeared at an arraignment hearing on Tuesday in Camden.

Superior Court Judge Edward McBride set bail at $1.5 million for 18-year-old Tyhan Brown in the shooting death of 8-year-old Gabby Hill-Carter in late August.

Gabby was riding her bike when shots rang out on her street. Court documents suggest she ran to a neighbor's house in an attempt to get out of the line of fire. But so did the alleged intended target, and Gabby was struck once in the head. She died two days later.

Brown's mother and girlfriend are facing charges of impeding the probe, which ended at a relative's home in the town of Clarksville, near the Kentucky border.

The case now proceeds to a Camden County grand jury.
